The gate to Nash Stream Road should be open on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 8 AM..the Friday before Memorial Day weekend is the usual day it opens, and Nh Forest and Lands Division does not deviate from the opening date...can't recall it being open earlier than the weekend of Memorial Day...

Just wanted to let hikers know that the Speck Pond Shelter has been dismantled and will be rebuilt next spring...the past couple of years there has been an increase in winter hikers up in the Northern Mahoosucs. The Full Goose Shelter is the nearest one and that is past or before the Notch...

Success Pond Road from Berlin side about the same as Monday the 6th...first mile kind of bumpy, rest up to the trailhead better than last year, with a few rough spots of course...Plenty of room to park just past the trailhead sign, on the left... Lower park of Speck Pond Trail had some logging...

Jefferson Notch Road was opened later on 6-4 as I drove by to check and was open end to end today.. Caps Ridge: no snow or ice, about a dozen obstacle blow down spots..drainages very clean, good work last fall most likely so they'll be easy to clean, that way spend more time on the blowdowns...
