Date of Hike: 3/5/2016

Trail Conditions: Crusty snow on top of a couple inches of powder, on top of glare ice. Several exposed ice flows. Three minor blowdowns, easily navigated. Most icy spots were easy to bypass along the edge of the trail, but the large group of hikers who broke the trail did a lot of sliding down the trail, creating an ice-chute effect. The Table Rock trail ice-chute will likely be particularly treacherous, as the saturated snow will freeze into a slick slide.

Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes, microspikes, or crampons highly recommended.

Comments: Nobody has continued into the Baldpate col beyond West Peak recently. The trail head parking lot is glare ice hidden under a couple inches of snow - two-wheel drive vehicles should beware.
