On Saturday March 25, Shin and myself left the Garden for Big Slide at 8:25. The weather was a bright sunny day with only a hint of clouds. The trail conditions were very good with only some ice spots on the cliffs heading up the first Brother. From the second Brother, we could see the clouds were moving in.

Between the third Brother and Big Slide, all views were gone. The snow pack was in great shape and we bare booted the entire route. The final push up Big Slide had some areas of snow over ice and it was with great care we ascended without assistance.

We spent only a few minutes on the summit, as we could not see anything. The descent was mostly a glissade and we were back to the junction is about 5 minutes. We stopped on the last Brother for an extended lunch break as the clouds opened up for us some excellent views of the Great Range and beyond. The descent off the Brother was starting to get slippery with melting snow, ice and mud.

We were back at the parking lot around 2:30. This evening was the Winter 46er Annual Dinner, and we headed into Lake Placid stopping at the Ausable Inn and Lake Placid Brewery to replenish our thirst. It was a great day to climb and visit with friends.
