(Date of hike 3/6/14)
Road walk and Zealand Tr to Hut--totally packed. Fun group at the hut, Beowulf soon to start the PCT. Met 2 men near the hut just completing a S-to N Bond Traverse (congratulations!) who reported a well-packed trail from their snowshoes. But winds rose over night and I had to repack the trail to W. Bond and Bond. Drifts were over a foot in places and I lost the trail a couple of times. Perfect weather with unlimited visibility and low wind. I lingered at the peaks. From W. Bond I could hear and see 2 hikers coming up the ridge from Bondcliff. We met near Bond. "We thought we saw somebody on W. Bond, but they weren't moving." Back at the hut an great couple were planning to do all the Bonds and Twins on 3/7. If they succeed, the trails should be in great shape until the next strong wind or snow.
