Trail Conditions: Kinsman Ridge Trail from the tramway is very postholed and was extremely icy. Only bare spots were just shy of the summit where some of the rocks were exposed.
Special Equipment: I used snowshoes on the way up, crampons on the way down. You will definitely want crampons for the ski slopes/glade area. I took a nasty fall down one of the ski slopes on the way down... (I ended up fine with a few bruises but it was steep enough to be scary.) I know most people will say it's overkill but I would not hike that portion of the trail again without an ice axe.
Comments: Apparently, Saturday was all blue skies... so I picked the wrong day again! I had nothing but fog, clouds and snow flurries by the afternoon. No views, scary fall... it was one of those "interesting" days on the trail!
