Davis Path to Mt. Crawford
Date of Hike: 1-6-09
Trail Conditions: Trail is packed all the way to the summit of Mt. Crawford. It looked like the Davis Path had seen use beyond the Mt. Crawford spur.
The section of trail in the open ledgy area between the first viewpoint and the spur path had been covered in a few inches of fresh snow obscuring the trail. I inadvertently went off trail a few times in this area. Something to keep in mind if following my tracks. Not much ice (all patches can be easily avoided).
Special Equipment Required: Stabilicers or light traction. Snowshoes and/or crampons weren't needed (at least as far as Mt. Crawford). Although I'm sure tomorrow's storm will certainly change this.
Comments: Great first hike of 2009!
