Once again the dynamic dou of The Great Pumpkin & Spaderman assault the White Mts. This time it is to bag Spaderman's 45th peak. We took off from the Gale River Loop Rd at 7:45 AM traveling up the Gale River Trail, intersecting with Garfield Ridge Trail to push for the top of Galehead Mt.at High Noon.

With the recent nice weather, the trail conditions were very good. There are a few wet spots along the trails but nothing that was difficult to negotiate. All the stream crossings were done with the usual grace with minimal effort.

Our equipment needs were minimal. Poles, as always, are handy but not necessary. The gaiters came in handy in the wet spots. Bugs were minimal, mostly in the last mile back to the car in the mid-afternoon. Sunscreen a must as there were no clouds in the sky especially after you break out of the woods.

After bagging #45, we spent a pleasant 1/2 hr. talking with a group from Tufts Univ. on the porch of Galehead Hut. They were from the Tufts Wilderness Orientation on a hike with in-coming Freshman. We wished them well in the hike & future at the "Jumbo".

Overall, if you missed hiking in the peaks yesterday, you missed one of the best days to be out. On to Isolation, Bond & Bondcliff to complete the multi-season list.
