The Mt. Cilley Road traverses between Rt. 118 & Rt. 3; we wanted to access the Mt. Cilley Road from Rt. 118, but that would require a brook ford or a bushwhack from Elbow Pond, and we hadn't the time. So we drove up the Mt. Cilley Road off of Rt. 3 south of Woodstock. The first .5+ mile was sanded and the snow packed by tire tracks from owners of home up the road. They were surprised to see that we had climbed the somewhat treacherously steep road in our Honda CRV, but were kind enough to let us park on their lot.
From there it was a woods road walk along Mt. Cilley Road to the HOL. Then we followed an abandoned trail to the summit of Grandview. We bushwhacked over to its subpeak to find the remains of the fire tower.
If there were once 'Grandviews'... they are no longer
