The trail from Little River Road (just beyond the 7 Dwarfs Motel) is generally easy to follow, with a few frozen or muddy patches, and a pricker bush area that could use trimming. The 1 mile section on the North Twin Trail was in good shape, but the river crossing where the bushwhack takes off to the left would have been impossible to cross. We didn't see the N Twin Trail crossing at the 2 mile mark, but imagine it too would have been difficult at best.

The Fire Warden's Trail itself was in excellent condition from top to bottom. Someone has lopped all the small growth from the trail edges, so there's now an 8'+ wide trail. Several ski trails have also been cleaned up at various points along the way. The trail was very easy to follow, and the birch glades were more spectacular than usual with deep blue skies, sunshine, and a frosting of ice and snow on the treetop twigs. Beautiful trail. The views toward the Twins were very nice, and the views to the pure-white Presidentials against the blue sky were incredible.

It was 3 below zero when we left the car at 8am, and not a breath of wind. About 2" of snow to the FWT start, and 4"-6" at the summit. 7 of us packed the trail out, and it should be easy to follow and fast. 6 1/2 hours round trip with 3 kids.
