Climbed Haystack from the Garden trailhead.With the high temp forcast,decided it was a good day to do this big 17.7 mi. dayhike.Left at 8:45 to reach Slant Rock at noon.Had lunch at the lean-to,first time there since the new relocation.Very nice setting.
From there,we took the Shorey shortcut(yellow trail)to reach the Range trail(blue) up to the summit.Met one hiker from Philadelphia who climbed from Basin.The view up there is my favorite one the Adirondacks.My third time there but the first time with views in every directions.
Returned by the red trail.Trail conditions were very good with some patches of ice at higher elevations but with the rocks sticking out, did not needed the crampons.
Back to the car at 7 pm.A long but very rewarding day !
