FINALLY… a good day of hiking to report after two months of moving, unpacking and settling our new home! Other than a bushwhack of Blue Ridge (Schroon) on May 5th we have been working on the house since April 30th. Our trek to Jay Mt. was all we had heard… wonderful. The herd path was in good shape with only a couple blow downs. The great number of cairns on the ridge made navigating the ridge easier. The weather was mostly sunny but the cool wind was fierce. Leaving the car at 9, this was a beautiful hike that took us 3 hours to summit. It was about 2.5hrs to hike out. Probably could have shaved some time, had there not been so many excellent views to stop for! No other hikers today. We got a good look at Saddleback which we’ll have to bushwhack sometime too.

Extra gear: Trekking poles helped stability in the gusts, along with a windbreaker for warmth.
