Date of Hike: 7-5-10
Trail Conditions: Trail was 99% dry and firm….just a couple of muddy spots about halfway up, near the streams. Not one blowdown on the trail….the person in charge of trail maintenance on Glencliff has done a ton of work since the winter/early spring carnage.
Special Equipment Required: Water & sunblock.
Comments: About 92 degrees and very humid at the trailhead. Thought I was doing this one solo but the bugs were with me until I broke out in the open on the Carriage Trail.
So often conditions are relatively mild at the trailhead while a tempest rages at the top. Today it was just the opposite. Dry air, temps in the high 70s, beautiful breeze sweeping across the summit….was tough to leave. Maybe 20 people and a few dogs hanging out on the summit when I arrived.
Started the hike @ 1:20PM and finished @ 4:50PM.
