Awesome day for Moriah - started with a few inches of crusty snow at the bottom, increasing to 8-10" of fluffier stuff in spots on the ridge, but like other peaks, not nearly enough for snowshoes. Overall trails in good shape - a few blowdowns on Stony Brook were easily passable today but will become more of an issue with more snow. We finally put on microspikes at the bottom of the steep scramble just below the summit, and left them on until partway down Stony Brook Trail - traction was very helpful in places headed down from the ridge. Only a light breeze at the summit, much less than forecast - so nice!! Actually had a short lunch on the summit and enjoyed the views.

Hannah and Kali had a great day - a few scrambles on Carter-Moriah Trail were a bit tricky especially the one just below the summit, but they handled them all nicely. Running water in a few spots especially on the lower half of Stony Brook.

Great day out with Cynthia, Heather and Dave, and of course Hannah and Kali :)
