Owl’s Head via Black Pond Bushwhack
Date of Hike: 1/29/11
Trail Conditions: Deep, well packed snow with a nice dry consistency for easy snow shoeing….from the suspension bridge all the way to the summit.
Special Equipment Required: Snow shoes were used from beginning to end.
Comments: We started @ 8:15AM and got back to the car @ 4:30PM. Temps ranged from the low 20s down to single digits at elevation. The summit was VERY cold. Tons of snow at higher elevations.
Saw Ed Hawkins & Co. near the summit. I imagine my great great grand children one day will be posting on Views about crossing paths with Ed atop some 4K footer…
Many thanks to the folks last weekend and early yesterday who stamped out the bushwhack all the way to the top….it’s like a paved trail at the moment. Now’s the time to bag Owl’s Head!
