Pemi Loop Clockwise

Date of Hike:9/11/10

Trail Conditions: Trails were generally in good shape. Good deal of mud in sections below treeline along Garfield Ridge. Also some thick mud along the last .5 of a mile of Bondcliff before junction with Wilderness Trail.

Special Equipment Required: Lots & lots & lots of fluids…..and food….eat early & often.

Comments: We picked what was probably one of the top 5 days of the season to do the Loop. Cool temps and a stiff wind hit us in the early morning when we broke out on Franconia Ridge. We donned windbreakers and winter hats and didn’t go back down to single layers until we hit the treeline on Garfield Ridge. Saw Flags flying on Lafayette, Garfield, & West Bond….we were either too early or too late to catch them flying on the other summits. Clear skies all day…..mild temps from about 11AM onward, beautiful long views on every summit and open ridge. We were pumped and full of energy all day.

Started @ 4:30AM and got back to the car @ 7:51PM.
