Using 2 cars we took the full route along the Pitchoff Ridge East to West.

My first experience with Pitchoff was day after a extremely long hiking day. My feet were aching and toenail bloody, it was raining, I skipped balanced rocks, and I never did figure out where the true summit was (on that trip). That was a bad plan. After the latest trip, between the awesome views from the east end, and the ability to play at balanced rocks on the west end, I think this is an awesome, quiet route (but it needs two cars, the road between not suitable for hikers).

The trail throughout was in very good shape. A couple steps over fallen trees and hopping past a few muddy spots in mini-cols was all that was required.

Equipment: waterproof shoes, windgear; need to hold rock on steep ascents and descents, some folks like gloves for that.
