Placid Lean-to

Hi all,

We are going up to Lake Placid this weekend for camping among other things. We were discussing where to camp, and the Placid Lean-to along the Jackrabbit Trail came to mind. I have never stayed there, only visited between summits of the mountains on either side. My question is what are the chances of finding room for 3 guys there Friday late afternoon. I imagine it is popular being so easily accessable.

If anyone has experience there, please advise.

Hi Rob;
I'm up there fairly often in the winter, and that lean-to doesn't seem to get much overnight use, so you shouldn't have a problem. The first 1/2 mile of the Jackrabbit Trail will likely not be skiable by Friday, but beyond thee on the flat there should be snow left after this thaw.
