A follow-up to a question I posed a few weeks ago re. cab ride returns to Appalachia. (Thanks to all who responded.) The weather report is good, so I'm planning on hiking this Saturday, and taking the 9:40 a.m. shuttle from Highland Center back to my car at Appalachia on Sunday. The bunk room at Highland is full, so I'm wondering if there are good legal bivy spots near the Crawford trailhead. (I've never hiked the Presidentials from there).
I'm hoping to complete the hike in one shot. But I'll be carrying minimal bivy gear just in case I run out of gas early, so something a few miles up trail would be fine. Thanks - Al
