Bennet Street Trail to the Gleason Trail and back on to Bennet Street to Flat Pond Trail then around the Pond and up to Lost Pass. Returned via Flat Pond (with a bushwhack to eliminate the big loop around the river) then back all the way on Bennett Street Trail. The summit of Sandwich Dome had some mud, snow was gone, but for a couple of token patches. Lots of blowdowns, some not so easily skirted.

Near the summit was an area the moose/mooses had trampled down severly and pooped all over the place...interesting to see.

As an interesting note there is an old thread here (2006) that references the dam at the end of the pond and some question as to whether it will be maintained. The dam has deteriorated significantly, but it looks as if rocks and dirt have piled up toward the bottom of the dam so that it may last quite a bit longer. Since the middle of the pond is less than 1 foot deep now, it wouldn't take much to make the pond back into 2 ponds.

The "Lost pond Trail" (not a hiking trail) was relatively easy to follow up to the Lost Pass, where the pond (shown as swamp on the AMC map) was deep in areas and still had some snow to feed it. Less blowdowns on this trail.

Black Flies at the parking area if you stopped, all brook and river crossings were easy. Waterfalls on Bennett Street Trail were running enough to captivate, but low enough to rock hop around for pictures and playing.
