Tripyramids Via Mt Tripyramid Trail
Date of Hike: 7-3-10
Trail Conditions: Near perfect. North Slide was bone dry. Just an occasional blowdown in the woods on the loop trail heading towards North Slide and coming off South Slide. The relatively wide stream crossing at the end of the loop trail after descending South Slide was easily crossed.
Special Equipment Required: Sunblock is definitely advisable given all the exposure on the slides. Poles are a great help keeping upright while navigating down South Slide.
Comments: One of those rare summer days when everything was darn near perfect. Enjoyed long views on North Slide and balmy conditions in which to linger and soak them all in. Interesting views of Jennings Peak & Sandwich Dome while descending South Slide.
Checked out the ancient pine trees off Big Pine Path on the way down Mt. Tripyramid Trail…..well worth the couple minutes it takes to cover the .2 of a mile that brings you to these giants.
