i can't wait!!!

...ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTH COUNTRY ON
FRIDAY...

LOW PRESSURE LOCATED OVER THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY WITH TRACK
NORTHEAST TOWARD THE EASTERN GREAT LAKES TODAY. MEANWHILE...A SECOND
AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE NEW JERSEY COASTLINE
TONIGHT AND BE LOCATED OVER THE GULF OF MAINE BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
RAIN IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA THIS EVENING...BUT AS LOW
PRESSURE DEEPENS ALONG THE NEW ENGLAND COAST ON FRIDAY...NORTHWEST
WINDS WILL PUSH COLDER AIR INTO THE REGION. THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO
CHANGE TO SNOW BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING ACROSS NORTHERN NEW YORK AND
THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY. MEANWHILE...THE RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW
ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL VERMONT...INCLUDING THE CHAMPLAIN VALLEY BY
EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

THE COMBINATION OF STRONG NORTHWEST UPSLOPE FLOW...PLENTY OF LOW
LEVEL MOISTURE...AND COLD TEMPERATURES WILL PRODUCE OCCASIONAL SNOW
SHOWERS...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE WESTERN FACING SLOPES OF THE
ADIRONDACK AND GREEN MOUNTAINS THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE ADIRONDACK AND GREEN
MOUNTAINS WILL BE 2 TO 5 INCHES WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF 6 INCHES
POSSIBLE. MEANWHILE...ACROSS VALLEY LOCATIONS SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS
WILL BE LESS THAN ONE INCH.

IN ADDITION...NORTHWEST WINDS AT 20 TO 30 MPH WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS
WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW....ESPECIALLY ACROSS
THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS LATE FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY MORNING.

NOW WOULD BE THE TIME TO TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS FOR THE FIRST
SNOWFALL OF THE WINTER SEASON.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND OTHER LOCAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER
DETAILS OR UPDATES.

Was good to meet you guys this weekend and learn about VFTT. Will fill in my profile info tomorrow. Am interested in getting in touch with folks in CT, people who like snowshoeing and learning about cabins with wood stoves in NH/VT/MA/NY.

Be back tomorrow.

i'm back.... we got to the trail head at 8:00pm friday night.... the trail was covered in 3-4 inches of snow...we started hiking into the lean-tos for the night and got about 2 miles in when our friend twisted his ankle real bad... it happened at one of the stream crossings... he was following to close to another and had to back track when the other stopped, this resulted in sliping and falling on the rocks, luckliy not in the stream.. so we divied up his stuff and hiked slowly back to the cars....

our friends ended up driving back to Albany and sara and i stayed at the trail head... the next morning we woke up had some breakfast and decided to hike Hurricane mtn... what a great choice it was, once we started decending into Keene the skies opened up and were completely clear.. we came in from the Crows trailhead. the hike was great as the trail was perfect... there was some ice at the very top but that was all we had to contend with, the top was windy as hell
