whiteface and piper, hiked on 3 31 16
To trailhead from Gilmanton, rt 107 north. Right on haddley rd. go about 1 mile and at end, take right on durrell mtn rd. follow rd until it turns to gravel. About .1 down gravel rd, there is a sand pit entrance on left. ( see pic ). If you have a low clearance vehicle park here and walk up the road. Do not block entrance to pit. If you have a high clearance vehicle, continue another .4 miles and there is a clearing on left. (see pic). Park here but do not block opening. To get to whiteface trail, walk into clearing and on the right hand side, you will find and old logging/atv road. Follow this for about 4 minutes and the road splits. (see pic). Go left and follow for about another 4 minutes and there will be a carin on the right hand side. That is the start of the trail to whiteface. It follows the ledges up to the summit. Nice views on summit. We continued on the blue blazed trail into the col, then took the piper/whiteface link ,green blazed to ridge, north piper, then yellow blazes to ledges on south piper. Better views here to the south west. Rt, about 4.3 miles. Aprox 1300 ft gain
