Date if Hike: Saturday, November 16th

Trails: Zealand, Twinway, Bondcliff, West Bond Spur, Lincoln Woods Trail

Trail Conditions: Bare ground, lightly covered snow, to about four to eight inches up high in spots which was easily trampled down. No real need for traction for us but bring along your micro-spikes as with the melting and refreezing rain/snow it will be different day to day up there. The little water crossings above the Zealand Falls Hut were easily hopped across. One big blowdown on the lower end of the Bondcliff Trail.

For those hikers new to these trails: Zealand Trail to the Twinway is relatively flat walk with very good footing for most of the way. Twinway past the hut and up to the Zeacliff outlook is steep in places with rougher footing which might be a little slippery with the snow for some. From Zeacliff to Zealand, grades are moderate with a few short steep bursts, footing is decent. Twinway Between Zealand and Guyot, the trail drops to a col and goes back up with rough footing, snow here hid some of the smaller rocks and roots. Bondcliff Trail has moderate grades throughout between Guyot and Bondcliff, snow covers the trail but footing is generally decent. West Bond Spur is a 1.0 mile out and back, decent footing, not steep. Bondcliff Trail below Bondcliff is ok to rough footing, there is some erosion and mud between two of the water crossings. Lincoln Woods Trail is flat!

Comments: A really great day on Saturday for views. If you haven't been on Mount Guyot this time of year head up there, what a special stretch of hiking with all the ridges capped in snow! It was a fun day out with Denise, Steve, Bob & Geri and Dusty, as Dusty completed his second round on his birthday! Report / Pictures
