  • no kidding..there has been talk about taking Wolf off..and many of the group agree..Lib, the originator of the club may be coming around..I will bring it up officially at the next planning meeting...
Found my way hre so I can let you know that I did enjoy the report on Tecumseh. Still not good enough to encourage me to winter hike!
    Grumpgran
sadly not for me as work weekend and frankly..the knee has not come back as well as would like..going to do a test 8 miler in the squam range thurs though today was the day to hike..good like on your traverse and to Micheal J in the cribbage tourney....
Can I interest you and any of your crew in a jaunt on the Carter Moriah trail saturday? I'm considering Moriah all the way to the Hut. Any interest in all or part?
You are penciled in for the nickel tour on the 13th.
Are you getting pounded with snow up there?
A hike and the buffet at the Highland Center sounds grand, didn't know they put on a holiday meal -- we may have to consider that for next year!
How are the conditions at Bretton? MJ is up north and prolly heading to Waterville tommorrow. Ping me on my Blackberry if you'd like his #.

I'm hoping to hike some combination (all or part) of Moriah -the Carters-Carter Dome to the hut next saturday. MJ will be there defending his championship title. Hoping to ski either Wildcat or Bretton next sunday. What about you?
Yes, we were parked at the Mt Kinsman Trailhead and pulled out right behind you. We just hiked up to Bald Knob and back for a quick trip. Had to get home in time to put in the turkey. :)
hi Valerie..yes..that was I ..decided on taking the long way home from Bretton Woods..somewhat in search of the elusive red berries...Were you guys up on Kinsmans today? thought i saw someone pull in behind me on 116...Force of habit made me pull into Beaver Brook..always check the trail heads.....Happy Thanksgiving

    Hello Silverfox,
My husband and I were wondering if we saw you today (Thanksgiving). We followed a white pickup truck with license plate "SYLVERFX" and a hiking sticker in the window on Rt 112. It pulled into the Beaver Brook trailhead - I think - where the AT crosses Rt 112.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope it was you out enjoying the day!

    Sincerely,
    Valerie Charboneau

Raw turkey neck...no wonder she obeys you so immediately.....

    Micheal the baker...good job..

And I had little doubt that previous post showing the treadmill relegated to the basement was false...

and..I believe that the treadmill should be in the kitchen..or very near by so as one can effectively multitask..it is all about time..no matter what they say

don't cut off the wine for the amoxycillen completely..wine is health food afterall...sorry to hear that you are still dealing with that..the sinus thing..mine lingers from may to december though it seems better a bit now that we have had hard freeze ..staying in NH myself this holiday..thinking Pierce and Jackson and the Highland Center buffet in the afternoon..we will see..May be joining a good hike saturday..Mt Stanton loop..while there will be snow may be the last snowshoeless hike of the year...lots of snow up high..good group Pete Crane and darcy the leaders..nice folks..Helen doing Adams..not sure if I am up for that

Happy holidays..glow in the wonderment of it all..family is great
Ahem....the treadmill is STILL in the kitchen. :)
Extra motivated to save $$ to get the porch floor reinforced so it can live in its intended area!
OK, so -- I parboiled and peeled the pearl onions for the ever-so-yummy and unhealthy creamed pearl onions with BACON!...and roasted beets for the counterbalance healthy and ever-so-yummy roasted beet/goat cheese/arugula salad..MJ baked a pumpkin pie/cheesecake desert, Mom baked pumpkin bread and lugged it up from sunny Florida....hmmmm.....the stuffing and turkey will wait until the a.m.
No wine..sigh..it just doesn't agree with the amoxycillin and I need to irradicate this sinus infection (sniffle...creak..sniffle)
Terra gets a raw turkey neck for breakfast. :)
Heading to 'Rhody for the holiday? Give us a jingle if you'd like the nickel tour on your way by.
    :)
Hi Silvverfox .... I saw a comment you made online about liking Scarpa Charmozboots for winter hiking. I'm interested in them. Back Country.com has them on sale for $194. Specs don't seem to focus much on warmth or insulation. How warm are they? Not sure what kind of winter stuff you do. Are they as warm as "Sorel" type boots with 400g insulation? If you want to email a response. My email is [email protected].
    hey buddy
    sorry i missed the soup
you really made it sound yummy
especially the part about the fermented grape soup
    gotta give that a try!
    have fun tommorrrow

Aw, thanks. It was great to meet you today. The hike itself was just fantastic - spectacular views, wonderful company... what more could I ask for!

No ribs for me, though I did wish that I'd ordered them once everyone else's food came out. Ah well, I guess I now have an excuse to go back (both to hike and to eat). :)
Hi Silverfox -- Thanks for this comment. I had no idea my TR would generate that kind of response. It makes me wary about posting anything showing my inexperience again!
hee hee...well, terra's pals are over 120 pounds each, they are bernese mountain dogs -- so sweet, cuddly, huge and kinda lazy. they were too big for the pen -- if they jumped up on the fence they'd damage it -- so we went to a local park. the dogs had a great time, as did the people. plus, there were several other dogs there, so it was a big dog fest, with terra working hard to keep everyone rounded up. :)
yeah..you said you were coming down with something..sorry the mega antioxidants didn't help..how nice for terra to have friends over...I am sure they all enjoyed the nicely fenced in area..I sense a little pressure building up for the "home reveal" funny....sounds like a chevy chase movie or something......
as for the needle thing...he freezes it up a bit and just gives the quick jab..takes your breath away for a second and was a bit sore after but not terrible..brings back childhood fantasys however of evil doctors.......
oh my..turkey baster sized needle?? oy...hope they gave you something for that!
no hiking this weekend. I was actually very sick last week with a head cold. i dragged myself to work all week then crashed and took friday off. we were going to go to the catskills but the weather sucked and the group consensus was to bail..we had friends visiting from out of town with their two bernese mountain dogs, so terra had friends to play with. we spent most of the weekend doing chores around the house, trying to get ready for thanksgiving and the "home reveal" to the parents! we'll hike next sunday, though.
glad to hear your treatments are helping!
