    First trip to Adirondacks

Thanks for the help. Right now the long range forecast is calling for rain, but you know how that goes.

    First trip to Adirondacks

Our plan is all set, we're planning on starting our hike from A-Loj parking lot next Sunday(9/12) morning and hiking past Marcy Dam, then down the western edge of Avalanche Lake to Beaver Point lean-tos. Is it a strong possibility that the parking lot will be full early Sunday morning? Also...

    First trip to Adirondacks

Thanks for all the answers and suggestions so fast. We're not planning on hiking until a Sunday night and then for a few nights, so hopefully the crowds shouldn't be there.

    First trip to Adirondacks

Our planned hike to Glacier NP just got derailed due to the number of forest fires and heavy smoke in the area, so we're going to go to the Adirondacks High Peaks region instead. I've found some conflicting info concerning the lean-to shelters. Do you need reservations? Also looking at some of...

    Caribou Valley RD

Caribou Valley Rd is open. We were able to drive up to the Jersey barriers (3.9 miles) without a problem in my Hyundai Santa Fe AWD. One of the Jersey barriers has been moved from in front of the metal bridge. A vehicle (probably a truck) had driven up to the 6 mile marker, although you could...

    Caribou Valley RD

You're correct, I did mean for cars. We are hopeing to use it the weekend of May 18 & 19 to hike the Crockers and Redington. If it's not drivable then we may have to hike the AT from the highway.

    Caribou Valley Road - repaired!

I'm planning on using the CVR in a few weeks when a group of us hike the Crockers and Redington. Does anyone have any knowledge of the condition of the CVR and the bridges up to the AT crossing this spring?
