Mt. Abraham and Mt. Ellen Sat 7/30

I'm heading up to Vt to do Abraham and Ellen in/out unless I can get someone else to car spot. I hike at an average speed but may be a little slower than usual as I'm just coming off from a hip injury. If anyone is interested in joining me I'd welcome the company.

Western Maine Mtns - Memorial Day Weekend

We were planning a 3 day backpacking trip in ME this weekend on the AT from Rt 27 over to Mt. Abraham and down the Fire Warden Trail. Weather has us wondering if we should postpone. Any idea how the trails and the water crossings might be after all this weather?

Thanks for all the info Bob & Gerry and Sherpa John. I'm thinking about doing Saddleback & Horn next Sat. and then a backpacking trip Memorial Day weekend -Crockers, Redington, Sugarloaf, Spaulding & Abraham. I'm hoping it's not too early in the season to take this on. I'm not a fast...

    Mt. Redington, ME

Does anyone know what's the best approach to Mt. Redington in ME? I'm working on the NE 4000 Footer List and I've completed NH and I'm working on ME now. I can't seem to find anything in my books or maps about a trail to Mt. Redington. I see the general area but not sure what's the best...

OK I'm in... Let's plan on hitting the trail by 8:00 and be prepared to go all the way. There's no turning back this time.

    Isolation Bushwhack on 3/12 Ms. Brown's #48

Sounds good but a lot of us are driving up in the morning from Mass. and leaving our homes by 5 a.m. It's a 3 + hour drive so we can't make it. Maybe others that are more local or driving up the night before can meet. Julie

Still on for Sunday? Are you still planning on doing Cannon tomorrow (Sunday)? I was planning a hike for Monday but the weather doesn't look promising. I'm considering hiking Sunday instead. Are you still on?

    Mt. Isolation - 2/12/05

Bill - Nice job with the trail report. It was a fantastic day with a lot of laughs and great teamwork. I can't wait to do it again and this time I will be more prepared on how to use a compass. (I'm going to the workshop tonight at REI so I should have the "magic" touch on our next...

    Welch/Dickey Jan 2

I had a good time too with plenty of practice using the crampons. There were a few spots where I thought I would have to rely on the "butt slide" but the crampons did the job. It was a nice way to end the holiday season - a good day with good people and great views.

    Mt. Madison - Tuesday 12/28

I finally conquered Madison today under less than desirable conditions. It was quite an experience and worth the wait. There was a lot of snow on the last half mile or so to the hut and strong winds all the way especially at the summit. The snow was the fluffy type which couldn't be packed...

    Mt. Madison - Tuesday 12/28

This is the last of the 48's for me but my 3rd attempt at Madison. I want to finish up this year so here I go again! 1st attempt turned back due to illness, 2nd time could not reach summit due to weather. Third should be a charm...there's no stopping me this time. I will conquer this...

    Welch/Dickey Jan 2

There's a small group of us staying in Woodstock for the weekend. We're doing day hikes (unless we get some snow) on Friday and Saturday so we should be up for a not too strenuous hike on Sunday. If you're still on for Welch Dickey and want some company let me know. Julie

    Mt. Madison, Saturday 12/4

A small group of us are hiking Mt. Madison this Saturday via the Valley Way Trail. The trip is 8.4 miles with an elevation gain of 4100 feet. Book time is about 7 hours, however the weather and trail conditions could slow us down. We're planning an early start at 7:00 a.m. from the Appalachia...

NH Hiking Fri or Sat, 11/26 or 11/27

It looks like we may be hiking Mt. Madison on Sunday (weather permitting) if you're interested. There's a group of us (moderate hikers) who try to hit the trails every weekend. I'm trying to finish up on all the 4K footers this year. Only 3 more to go and then I celebrate....

    Mt. Whiteface/Passaconaway 10/11 Monday

We're doing Whiteface first and then going over to Passaconaway. I'm trying to finish up on my 48 peaks so I want to hit them both that same day. There may be someone else who's coming who would prefer to do just one peak. We could all start out together and you guys could just do...
