Wildcats D to A via Polecat, Wildcat Ridge and 19 Mile Brook
Date of Hike: 1-23-10
Trail Conditions: Polecats as expected -groomed ski trail made for fast conditions. Ski Patrol stopped by to ask us to stay to the side of the trail (which we already were). Wildcat Ridge is well broken out. There are several blowdowns. Lots of snow and ice on branches made for 5 foot tunnel-like travel. Lots of snow made for a nice descent off of A. Slide on A had a lot of snow; no problem. 19 Mile Brook well packed out; no blowdowns. Lots of open water bars and drainages. Not nearly as much snow on 19 Mile Brook as I expected; maybe 1 foot.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes -Useful
Comments: Optional - Wildcat Ridge was the highlight of the day. Deep snow made for views not normally seen. We found a lot of $$ on the Polecat. We turned it in to Ski Patrol who took it to Skier Services. If you know anyone who lost $ on Polecat, tell them to talk to Skier Services.
