Inmates Help Build Trail At Jericho Mountain State Park
New Trail To Include Scenic Views, Camping, Boating Accessibility

BERLIN, N.H. -- An inmate work crew is assisting the New Hampshire Trails Bureau in construction of a new recreation trail within Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin.

A supervised crew of 10 to 12 minimum security inmates from the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin started work on the project in June. The group is cutting trees, clearing brush, clearing the beaches and raking leaves.

The 150-mile multipurpose trail could take several years to complete and will include scenic views, camping and boating accessibility.

The project is receiving additional volunteer assistance from local snowmobile/all-terrain vehicle clubs.
