Hi my friends & ennemy.

With the winter storm for forecast, We take the decision for a small hike before the storm.

Perfect snowshoes tracks from the parking to Gaint summit, We cathed 2 rabbits few time after the pond.

The snow did not wait in early afternoon to start, the wind are hard every time when We are out of the wood!!!

One snowshoe track from Rocky Peak-Giant junction. We meet the man, He was just starting to come back from Rocky Peak, thank You for this help.

After We return in Gaint, We go down and meet a couple go up, unfortunately 300 steeps later 2 peoples was hiking with only crampons, it was must difficult to stay in snowshoes control!!!!

We find this 2 men, They are loosing outside of the trail, We give the road to way down and tell him "snowshoes are not a option but a rule in ADK area."

The wind was very hard and many time all the snowshoes track from the morning was erasing!!!!

We signed out after 4 hours 3 minutes ans drive slowly behind a Sunday driver... to come back at the base camp.

Happy new year. :)

Ranger Margaret H. told us Sunday afternoon, at the Loj parking, that this year it's snowshoes on all of the time on all of the trails, even along the hard packed path to Marcy Dam!

In all that soft new snow I don't see why any one would even attempt to hike without snowshoes! We (4 of us)did the same hike as you last Saturday Pinpin and the conditions were good then too.
Nice Report!
