Great day for a great hike! Hard snow, lots of foot holes, on the Monroe. Once we got to Alpine, had to break trail. It was hard, but if you broke through the snow was deep. Mostly bare booted until Alpine, had to use crampons. Some used just stabilcers but was risky. Many people at the top were not in hiking gear - clothes or shoes...I was amazed.
