Date of Hike: March 1st, 2008
Trail Conditions: Snowed Heavily 9pm Fri til Noon Saturday 8-10" new loose powder. 10 degrees, very light wind. Broke new trail the whole way. Occassionally loose snow on trail collapsed into 4 foot craters. A challenge to follow trail at times (1st time here in Winter). Quite the different stroll on the way down after multiple snowshoers had followed in our steps.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - essential Crampons - not needed
Comments: Great day for snowy winter hike. Loved it! Glad to share it with 100 Highest member and others who joined us. 1 Year ago today I started north on the AT as one of Georgia's biggest rainstorms & several tornados rolled through. Much prefer todays snowstorm!
