Trail Conditions: The woods road from the Barnum Road parking area to the start of the trail was very slippery in spots, even before an afternoon shower moistened it up. For the most part the main trail is in good condition, but wet in spots. We passed one large old blow-down that you have to either pick your way up and over or limbo underneath. Watch out for wet slippery rocks throughout, especially between the register and Caudal. There were some small easily navigable muddy areas in the cols (past Caudal, Camel’s Hump and Thomas Cole). Those same areas were rather buggy (but not much biting) and in a few spots were nearly grown over by the adjacent ground cover, including nettles. We noticed the unpleasant sensation on our legs before we paid attention to what it was that we were walking through. There were plenty of highlights too, including bunchberry in bloom.
Comments: Be careful on the woods road, especially in the rain.
