Loop hike up Goose Eye trail from Success Pond Rd, down Mahoosuc Trail (AT), and Notch Trail. Walk and hitch Success Pond Rd back to the car.

Climb up Goose Eye was wetter than I remember it from a month ago. The steep cone of Goose Eye makes for an interesting descent along the AT. Ledges wet, but still have good traction. Deciduous leaf fall at lower elevations have slip potential, but all trails in great shape. Footbed on the Notch Trail is very soft - a honey of a trail. No blowdowns.

Great 360 degree VFTT on Goose Eye - snow on the Presies, reds and golds in the valleys below. Full Goose Shelter was a great place to stop for lunch.

Saw four hikers and one dog. Thanks to the couple from Winthrop, ME, (and their dog Mojo) who gave us a ride about 2 miles on Success Pond Rd back to our car!

Started hike at 0800, back to car by 1400.
