The trail was broken out and hard packed by barebooters. There was no need for snowshoes today. The upper third was very icy and Microspikes were a big help, but it is fairly easy on that trail to walk around the ice.
The Bald Peak trail and the Ledges trail have also been broken out.
It was very cold today and very windy on the top. Full winter gear required.
I was asked by a friend to take his son on a hike. He was home for the holidays. He is in the U.S. special forces headed for Afghanistan. It was a pleasure to hike with this fine young man.
