Date of Hike: Mon. Feb. 2, 2009
Trail Conditions: White Dot, White Cross, Spruce Link (signed as White Cross) still the only trails open. Packed snow with rare ice most of way, ice with some bare rock last .1 miles
Special Equipment Required:
Traction - Ranger advised snowshoes not needed but traction was at summit, good advice although someone wore snowshoes all the way to the summit
Money - not required as ranger says fee is still optional, sign says it's not required on winter weekdays anyway - note different emphasis from previous "no fee"
Comments: Moderate deadfall in woods near road but almost nothing higher up. Park has no trail work for volunteers yet but may in future. [My guess - upper areas will require little work and not very dangerous, will use volunteers there if money for paid workers doesn't happen.]
