Trail Conditions: mostly dry with some ice along stream in the middle, dry at top.

Special Equipment Required: none

Comments: The trail map provided by the mass.gov DCR website for Washington State Park is misleading. One cannot stay to the right at the first junction in the Race Brook trail and end up at the AT - it is a dead end. One must stay to the left. We had to do some Class III climbing to get out of the base of the waterfall and bushwack over to the correct trail. Once on the main trail, old markers are still present leading to losing the trail several times. We were pretty cranky about the lousy map and markers by the time we got to the AT. We happened to nail the summit while it was sunny, but the best views were on the ascent. Total time 4 hours for around 7.5 miles.
