Trails: Lincoln Woods, Black Pond, BP Bushwhack, Lincoln Brook, Owl's Head Path, Franconia Brook

Trail Conditions: Lincoln Woods Trail was dry, so was the Black Pond Trail. The BP bushwhack was tough. Lincoln Brook Trail was some significant patches of mud and water. The slide up Owl's Head was mostly dry, though one shaded portion had water running down. The jumble of herd paths to the new summit were easy enough to follow. Lots of blowdowns on Owl's Head Path, especially close to the "new" summit. Franconia Brook was mostly dry with a few muddy patches. The two crossings on the Lincoln Brook Trail closest to the slide were rock-hoppable. We switched to sandals for the two big crossings closest to Franconia Brook Trail.

Special Equipment Required: Poles helped for the crossings.

Comments: A long hike, but we enjoyed it. We opted for crossings over pushing through vegetation on the hike out. The extra distance was worth it, and the cold water on our tired feet felt nice. The bugs were out and biting. We met some nice people on the summit, and had a nice chat. I think it says something that after the hike, when I asked J if she would rather hike Hale or Owl's Head, she chose Owl's Head without hesitation. Though that's probably more of a statement against Hale than for Owl's Head.
