Dorset Peak - 10/7/12
Accessed the trailhead via Lower Hollow Road, driving for about 4.1 miles just prior to where the firm gravel road turns into a muddy / undriveable road.
Proceeded along road. When we got to the section that is washed out, followed the herd path on the left side. Trail climbs steeply up a narrowing ravine to a HOL at about 2980'. Turn right. In .3 mi., turn right at fork onto the ATV trail that begins to climb. At .4, turn right onto a foot path that climbs up to south Dorset (remains of fire tower).
Easy .5 mi. walk to Dorset proper. Complete loop by hiking NE off Dorset. At about .2 off summit, at "triangle" intersection in a small col, turn left down ATV trail. Followed this back to complete the loop.
This is one hike that seems confusing when you read all of the trip reports, but makes complete sense when you're on the ground.
