Hi,
I took this Picture at just under 13,000 feet above Shira Plateau. I have no idea what it's named and wanted to add it to my Killimanjaro trip report. They felt almost like paper.

Thanks :)

?

I only know northeast plants. Africa is something else, for sure. It's definitely a composite flower which I would say is in the Aster family (but I suppose there could be another family too in Africa perhaps) -- though that's sort of the plant equivalent of saying something is a mammal but not sure what kind.

I wonder - any relation to the pearly everlasting, which we have in the northeast? They feel like paper too, and although the petals are mostly closed around the center, occasionally they open up a bit and have a similar structure to the ones in this picture. They make a great dried flower because they are so dry to begin with - there is little change in the flower's shape when you dry it.
