I skied part of this this past weekend - it's in good shape (came up the Jerusalem trail, stayed at the Glen Ellen Lodge and skied along the LT south almost to Sugarbush north, then exited via MRG).
Entry from the MRG side is from the corner where upper Antelope (I think) turns onto the fall...
...but other than hypothermia, avalanche conditions and unarrested falls on glare ice into the trees, there's nothing to worry about, right?
Still wondering about whether it will really rain at altitude, but it certainly sounds like that's what's expected.
Anyone care to speculate on the weather for the weekend in the Northern Presis (Adams, Madison, Jefferson)? Most forecasts seem to be calling for rain on Saturday but I have to wonder what the chances of that are above 4000'...time will tell, but why not speculate in the meantime?
If it does...
Mr. O, care to give us a Gore conditions report? I'm headed up that way this coming weekend and trying to figure out if I should ski at the area or try to do something else...
Thanks!

I'm with Orthic Seth. So many places have their own unique charms. I prefer to let my experiences in various places serve to enhance my appreciation of all.
Living in the age we live in, we're lucky. We can choose to live in New Enland and travel to Colorado or Montana or Alaska or the...
For some reason, I have had two experiences relating to this at Sugarbush. Last January I was out on what was to be an overnight on the LT. It was very cold and windy and we'd gotten pretty chilled (me especially, I had to 'answer the call of nature' just over the summit of Abraham, it wasn't...

A group of friends (4-5 total) and I are planning on hiking a section of the northern Long Trail, possibly from Montgomery Center (Atlas Valley Shelter) to the Laura Woodward shelter (overnight near there) and then out the the Jay/Richford Highway on the following day. What we actually...
Lurking
Infrequent poster, frequent lurker here. I ask the occasional question - to which I always get very helpful replies - and try to chime in when I have something to offer...which doesn't seem to be often!

I always just tried to prop it open and take off the bite valve. Camelback sells a sort of drying rack, I think?
For cleaning I've used a mixture of baking soda, water and rice (it's great for scrubbing) quite successfully.

You make it sound so appealing! ;-)
I think that if we decide to do it we'll have to take the just-happy-to-be-out-there attitude. Getting turns will not be the focus.
...or maybe we should consider another venue...
Some friends and I (relatively experienced winter hiikers/skiers/campers) are thinking of doing the Monroe Skline on the Long Trail from the Battel Trail to Mad River as an overnighter this weekend. We're planning on using tele skis, skins and bringing crampons. We'll try to stay at the Glen...
