Hiking the Twin Sisters in RMNP

I'm in CO now, and that's one of the <14ers that I've done. Really liked the trail, the slide is massive! Wasn't sure which bump was taller, so did them both!

    Colorado hiking?

Finally a question I can help with! My wife, a non hiker, and I visited my son and his wife, also non-hikers, in Aurora (just SE of Denver) last June. I wanted to find an easy 14'er for us all to try, with the understanding we may or may not make it to the top. After pouring over the...

Trails You're Ashamed to Admit You Haven't Hiked Yet

Glen Boulder Trail. It's been on my to-do list for about three years now. I've been all around it, but for one reason or another, I've never managed to get up or down it. Maybe next year....

    Worst "footing" in the Whites

** First-Hand report ** On Thursday, I did the Cornice trail from Caps Ridge over to Randolph Path. It was actually planned even before this thread was started... I found the section between Caps Ridge and the Castle trail to be typical northern pressies rock hopping, nothing too...

    new goals

Congratulations! I finished my 48th about two weeks ago on Madison. Since then I looked back and realized that I've done most (36) of them solo. So I'm going to go back and re-do the ones I didn't do by myself. That combined with doing over my favorites, and hiking trails I haven't seen yet...

    Osseo Trail Sign Replaced

I know a lot of people have mentioned this over the past couple of years so I thought I'd share that the blackened out sign for the Osseo Trail that was on the Wilderness trail has been replaced with a brand new white sign. I came down Osseo Saturday and just casually turned to look at what...

    Wildcat via ski trail question

Don't forget very little shade, depending on the time of day. I descended the ski trails (not Polecat, though) last July and found it to be very furnace-like. A hat was a must. I took more breaks than usual, just so I could step off into the trees for a bit and find some shade. Oh, and I...

    Trail food??

KFC Popcorn chicken. I take it on every hike, it packs well, doesn't crumble, and for some reason it tastes really good outdoors. Also, I bring a Snak-Pak pudding and a Doles fruit cup. They're a bit on the heavy side but they taste good too!

    Snow in Pemi and Franconia?

I was up there yesterday and there is definitely snow. Near the top of Falling Waters there is about 4 inches, but very easy to walk on. The ridge was very windy, so it's tough to say how much was up there.
