    What's this

I work for Onset Computer on Cape Cod. That picture is a solar radiation shield with a 4 channel datalogger on the inside. It probably has soil moisture and/or temperature sensors attached.

    Who got you started?

I got started late. My wife, baby daughter, sister inlaw and her boyfriend were camping at Lafayette Place Campground (1979). The girls wanted to go to the beach, we decided to go hiking. We went up Cannon, I enjoyed it so much we went up Lafayette and Lincoln the next day. Been hiking since

    My First VFTT Decal Sighting

I have only seen one on the road. It was a 2wd toyota pickup in Boston. We both noticed each others stickers and waved. I haven't seen any on the Cape where I live. Got one on my truck, green 4wd Toyota pickup and one on my kayak.

    Group of Fisher Cats

Fisher Cats A Fisher Cat was found on Cape Cod yesterday. It was dead on the side of Route 130 in Sandwich. If they are not native to the Cape, does that mean they walk over the bridge at night when nobody is looking?

What was your toughest winter summit?

For me it was Old Speck (twice). The first time we had snowshoes and were breaking trail, crawling over and under trees. We ran out of time about 1/2 mile from the summit. Longs Peak There was a little bit of ice left over from last year, and they had 2-4 inches of new snow a couple days before. It was warm on Saturday and by Sunday most of it was gone. The rangers are very conservative and had posted technical conditions for Sunday. I guess they're just being...
