north sky on the way to Thomas Cole

This was taken last year (10/23/03) on the way up Thomas Cole from Barnum Rd. The dark "sky" is really only one large cloud that dropped a little snow right after I took the shot - which is looking northward. The sky behind me was mostly clear, which is what makes the snow-covered branches pop out an look luminous. Going up Giant Ledge and Panther tomorrow (10/8/04) hoping to get some nice shots.

Why are so few from the NE?

This here 'place' is a NE hiking/climbing site, yet most (?) of the pictures posted were not from the area.

It is kind of odd that half the photos I have posted on exploretheeast.com are from the west, isn't it? Hmmm....

Hey, all my photos, except for my QTVR of Polychrome are from the east coast.

I didn't take a trip out west this year anyway, chosing to ride my bike to Canada instead.

Those look like the Osceolas, with East Peak on the left. The shape sure fits.

It's Pogy Notch from Lower South Branch Pond. You can see the shoulders of the Traveler and a bit of S. Turner through the notch.
