    9/9/06 Flume & Liberty

Cath, Yogi (a.k.a. dave), Yogi the dog, and I set out at 8:30a.m. for a great hike up Flume Slide Trail, over to Liberty and down Liberty Sprigns Trail. Yogi the dog carried his own pack for the the first time, which worked out very well since Dave had to carry him by the handle on his pack up...

Question for people who hike w/dogs

Sabrina, Thanks for your post. It is very helpful and encouraging. He's not an easy dog to train, but I know putting effort into training now will pay off for both him and I in the long run. It doesn't help that this is the first dog I've ever trained! Thankfully we have some good dog...

Question for people who hike w/dogs

Thanks again to everyone for their posts. We have been working on heeling in dog obedience class. It's no small task with my strong willed pup who is entering his adolescents! Thank you for posting a link to the dog whisperer...it is VERY helpful.

Question for people who hike w/dogs

Thank you all very much for your comments. I have read other dog posts that have become controversial and I'm glad this hasn't happened here. All of your comments are helpful. We live a country type setting with a couple of neighbors. Our puppy goes to doggy daycare two days a week to help...

    Mt. Hale 7/4/06

We (Yogi & I) started Mt. Hale around 8:45a.m. on the 4th of July. It was a hot day for hiking. We took our puppy (6 mos old) Yogi Jr. for his first hike. He came from the animal shelter already named Yogi, so we thought it was meant to be given that my husband's nickname has been Yogi for...

E.Osceola & Osceola via the Greeley Pond Trail

The first 1.3 miles to the intersection was mostly flat and quite easy. Osceola trail goes to the right from this...
