I'll be up in the Rangeley/Stratton area this weekend and was wondering if anyone would able to help with a car drop. It should go without saying, but we're definately willing to return the favor if you're going to be up there for more than one day.
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
A friend and I are planning to go on an backing trip this coming Sunday and Monday across the Pemi. However, my buddies car will be in the shop until sometime next week and the trip we are planning is a traverse and would require two vehicles. Is there anyone that will be...
After some research and experimenting I decided to switch to barefoot running. I picked up a pair of Five Fingers KSOs today because I run indoors a lot in the winter (I don't think the Y would like my bare feet flopping around on their treadmills) and the thought of a sharp twig/jagged...
Hi All,
I'm taking a friend to the Whites this weekend for their first snowshoe/skiing adventures. I was trying to come up with a short, scenic hike around North Conway and I thought of Cathedral Ledge and Echo Lake. Is this a good choice? Thanks.

Scratch that...
My masacistic (sp?) side has prevailed and I have decided on hiking my skis up Tecumseh tomorrow. Hopefully the nippy temps will keep people off the slopes long enough for me to get freshies. Feel free to join, unless you prefer chair lifts.
My office is absolutely dead this week so I'm planning on taking a day tomorrow to hike and or ski. I'm kicking around the idea of hiking Liberty and Flume via Liberty Springs. I may lug my skis up either Cannon or Tecumseh too. Nothing set in stone yet. Any takers? PM me if you're down.

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but the moose in the picture in Rocket21's post looks identical to the poor dead fellow I almost tripped over on the trail on Saturday. Too bad for the moose. Definately ranked dead last in my encounters with woodland creatures.
Posting from the phone so I'll keep it quick...
There is a dead moose across the Owls Head Slide Trail near the bottom. Scared the daylights out of me.
Water crossings are also very, high, like over waist deep, as well as very fast.
Back to pancakes...

Hey Guys,
Hey. I'm trying to knock off the rest of my 4k's with as many backpacking trips as possible. Soooooooo I'm looking for some advice on getting to Isolation from Pierce, or vis versa. Hows this sound:
Day 1
Crawford Notch to Mount Pierce, Mount Pierce to Dry River Shelter #3.
Day 2...
With respect to the sport of hiking, I am very young (an infantile 23 years old), however I feel as if I have come across a mind-boggling quantity of hikers in my adventures throughout the White Mountains and other regions of New England. Here are a few examples:
1. Last year in mid-May while...
Trail Conditions: Parked at the Cog Railroad parking lot and took the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. The winter route starts behind the small brown cabin uphill from the parking lot. The first 1.5 miles of trail were hard-pack snow with a light dusting. The steep section of trail before the alpine...
I guess I should have been a little more specific...
I've hiked Cardigan in winter before so I'm relatively familiar with what to expect from the trail. Also, I plan on snowshoeing up (I don't have a tele or AT setup :( ).
I guess I should have asked is the location of some good...
I'm planning my first hike and ski adventure and I figured Cardigan would be a good place to lose my green. Does anyone have info on the ski trails on and around the mountain? Thanks a lot.
