This may explain some of the...

Lake Placid SOA trail access lost

Boathouses and lawns Must agree walking in someones backyard makes one feel uneasy. It would be nice if a trail would be develop to avoid contact with these homeowners. It is understandable that someone does not want groups of people walking across their lawns or driveways. Thanks for the post.

    Question Re: Cliff

Cliff It can be pretty thick with blowndown on the approach from the Flow Lands. If you attempt this I would suggest going further south, once around the water.

    Panther and Blackhead 3-2-11

Nothing new here folks besides finishing the 35 winter peaks and the 39 peaks for the Catskill's 3500, all in the winter. Panther and Giant Ledge: trail rock solid, used snowshoes, but mircospikes would do. Good views from various spots on Giant Ledge, if you have not done it. Blackhead...

    Peekamoose

One of the better view points to the right of the summit rock in the Catskill's. Start from Peekamoose TH on CR42. County road 42 is in the back woods, it is out there. The trail to the summit rises in levels, up for a bit, than level, up for a bit, than level. Very nice hardwood area. The...

Signs I don't paddle but have read some of the articles regarding this stream. I'm glad the issue was resolved in favor of the canoeing community. It is also my assumption to lawsuit, etc. have been dropped, I hope. Hopefully other areas of the Adirondack's will be open to the public, Nature...

    North Dome and Sherrill

Started at North Dome Trailhead, Devil's Path, trail broken. We, Bill and I, headed up the eastern shoulder of North Dome. The snow was very crusty and not totally supportive. The climb to the northern shoulder is steep with numerous rock formations. The summit is typical of the Catskills...

Plateau, Sugarloaf, Twin, and Indian Head

Lyon Mtn access and trail conditions

Access Last winter I parked on the road. Don't try going up the snowmobile track, your car might sink. If you happen to be packing a snowmobile than go for it. Anyway, walk the woods road past the new trail and go up the old. The new trail is not marked well. If you like to bushwhack than...
