Conditions: treacherous!

Route: Lake Road, Weld Trail, ST, Pyramid, Gothics, Range Trail, Arm, UWJ, Wedge Brook, East River, Lake Road.

Equipment Required: Crampons, microspikes/light traction won't do.
Crampons required most of the day, light traction used between 2000-3500' but really if you don't have crampons you're going to be in trouble.
We made it past the first steep section on the way up Sawteeth (after the junction) in microspikes, but then (finally) changed into crampons. We were in crampons on the rest of the range until we got below 3500/3000 feet on wedge brook. The ice on the trails is feet thick in places, and its that clear water ice (not snow ice) where even crampons struggle to find purchase. We ended up having to whack around a section of trail between UWJ and the WJ col. Things were worst on the north facing slopes.
