Driving the 18.3 miles on the Keese Mills Rd. was like off-roading in the wilderness so our return trip home was via the state highways! The thick clouds in the sky didn’t break up until we were on our way home so the climb, summit and descent were all cold and grey. There was a few inches of snow on the whole trail but we really didn’t need microspikes except on the thin summit ice. Lunch was at the site of the observer’s cabin.
