A wonderful hike on the baldfaces. Amazing views and great conditions.

Date of Hike: 11/26/11

Trail Conditions: Mixed conditions: Some dry(ish) ground, slush, hardpack snow, 3 foot drifts, and wet slab.

Special Equipment Required: I started off with snowshoes but quickly ditched them as there was only 8-10" of snow. I switched over to microspikes and used them for the majority of the trip. I broke trail up to North Baldface and over to South Baldface before seeing any other hikers. With the slippery conditions, trekking poles are essential.

Comments: A wonderful hike. I hadn't hiked the baldfaces before. Great views. With the warm weather we have been having, in addition to the foot of snow that is currently melting, I can imagine the slabs going up South Baldface will get mighty slick once the weather becomes more seasonal.
