A group of 5 of us did Boundary Peak from Canada as a long day hike, finishing my 100 highest in Winter!

From ZEC Louise Gosford (Mont Gosford Park), using PapaBear (via RidgeRunner) directions, the road is pretty easy to follow and was really nice and slick despite the temperatures in the low 30's. The last two miles of road were not broken in by snowmachines. The last half mile to the gravel pit we switched over to snow-shoes as skiing made no sense. Found a ATV path that followed the stream into the bowl, then it vanished. Proceeded to do about a mile of memorable bush-whacking following a due-East bearing until after what seemed like forever we hit the boundary swath. Walked the swath to the summit. There was so much snow, the canister was buried, spent 15 minutes looking for it (on the American Side) and said "screw it". I'll come back in the summer and pre-date an entry. Made it back to the 'whack, down to ATV trail, to skis. The ski out was slick and fast.

All told we were out just over 12 hours including some time for equipment failure. 18 miles of skiing, 4 miles of snow-shoeing.

The ranger at the park is a blast. "That Stupid Mountain, why do you go do it, Mont Gosford has a view, Boundary, no view, no trail. Stupid Mountain. Very dangerous, that Stupid Mountain"

Equipment: Skis, snow-shoes, poles, sunglasses, Naproxin.
